Baucis, idis, f., = Βαῦκις. The wife of Philemon, in Phrygia. She, with her husband, entertained, in a very hospitable manner, Jupiter and Mercury, who came to them in the form of men; in return for which they were changed to two sacred trees before their hut, which became a temple, Ov.
