Bacchiadae, ārum, m., = Βακχιάδαι, the Bacchiadae, a very ancient royal family of Corinth, descended from Bacchis, one of the Heraclidae, which, being expelled from the throne by Cypselus, wandered to Sicily, and founded Syracuse, Ov. M. 5, 407; Plin. 35, 12, 43, § 152 (cf. Aelian, V. H. 1, 19; Pausan. Corinth. p. 120; Strabo, 8, p. 260).
