Anser, eris, m., a petulant and obscene poet (Ov. Tr. 2, 435), a friend of the triumvir Antonius, who presented him with an estate at Falernum (Cic. Phil. 13, 5). Acc. to Servius, Virgil makes a sportive allusion to him in Ecl. 9, 36: argutos inter strepere anser olores; cf.: ore canorus Anseris indocto carmine cessit olor, Prop. 3, 32, 84, and Weich. Poet.
